Reading has always been part of my life. As a young child, I remember begging my parents to take me to the library or bookstore so I could peruse the aisles for what seemed like hours. I would obsess over the tissue paper-thin pamphlets teachers sent us home with before book fair day, weighing my book options and how I could best stretch every penny of my allowance. In my preteen and teen years, reading provided an escape for whatever life was throwing me. Navigating adolescence, divorce, many moves, my first broken heart, and new chapters in my family’s story, books provided a consistent comfort and means to get away from reality when I needed it most.
As an adult, I’ve reconnected with reading in a whole new way. Seeking out authors of diverse backgrounds and challenging myself to read different styles has been a new adventure I welcome wholeheartedly.
I would love to hear what you are reading, or what some of your favorite books are. Please feel free to always send me any suggestions, and follow along with what I’m reading on Goodreads.
