When spring rolls around I am ready for a major refresh. After being cooped up all winter I long for bringing fresh elements into my life and this often involves refreshing my Spring style with some unique pieces. A good wardrobe needs core staple pieces like your basic tees, jeans, and accessories. But a great wardrobe incorporates statement pieces, fresh pops of style and unexpected elements. With the turn of the season, I am excited to shed my winter pieces and update my arsenal with fresh elements. You don’t need to do a complete overhaul of your closet, a few unique key pieces will go a long way. Here are four key pieces to refresh your wardrobe for spring.

Add a Pop of Color or Sass| Statement Shoes

After a season of wearing neutrals, blacks, and cooler colors, a bright fun statement shoe can seriously amp up your wardrobe. Since it’s not quite time to wake the toes up from their winter hibernation, statement flats make the perfect spring refresh in the shoe department. Every girl needs a good pair of flats. And I’m sure we all have our favorite neutral colored flats. Try something different and add a pop of color or a fun print to the mix this spring. My eyes (and heart) were instantly drawn to these Bright Pink Old Navy Womens Sueded D’Orsay Flats .  Paired with blue jeans or a fun spring shift dress, these flats make a subtle but noticeable statement (just my style). The D’Orsay Flats are comfortable and I’m happy to welcome them home to my closet. Not a fan of the bright pink? Spring Jacket | Denim Details

If there’s one winter piece I am ecstatic to pack away, it’s my winter coat. Gone are my warm fuzzies that come when you see the first snow flakes fall. A denim jacket is an easy way to freshen up any look for spring. I love throwing mine over a plain t-shirt for a quick pulled together but effortless style upgrade. The best thing about denim jackets? There’s an endless option different shades, embellishements, and distressed styles to choose from.

If you are worried about some unwritten rule saying you cannot wear a denim jacket with jeans, erase that from your mind now. The key is to pick a shade of denim lighter or darker than your blue jeans. Add a fun belt or a crisp white tshirt to the mix to help break up the look. But honestly, I’m a fan of rocking as much denim as possible (must be the 90s kid in me?). Can’t deal with the denim on denim hues? Try a white denim, or a fun camo print.

Not Your Average Accessory | Bright handkerchiefs and tassel earrings

Trade in your stocking caps for fun, airy accessories. I am loving the handkerchief bandana style scarfs that are everywhere this spring. In a fresh sprng color, these “neckerchiefs”  add a sweet touch of feminine flair to your look. You can even rock this fun accessory around your wrist, or tied to your favorite handbag for a subtle dash of spring style.

If handkerchiefs are not your thing, another fun accessory that is hot right now is the tassel earring. In a bright color, these little guys can pack a serious punch while adding a dash of elevated style.

Spring fashion feels like a breath of fresh air after the winter months. Between the bright colors, and airy fabrics you can’t go wrong. It’s so easy to update your style for Spring with just a few key pieces. I’m looking forward to rocking these bright accessories, and staple pieces like my denim jacket and JORD watch.
