It has been on my goals list to get back to reading more. Less time in front of the screens, and more time to myself. With the weather being chilly it’s hard to get outside as much, rather than finding myself in front of the TV at night it does my heart (and mind) good to curl up with a good book. I’m excited to share the books on my Winter Reading List and can’t wait to hear your thoughts if you have read any of these. Cue the cozy blankets, make that hot cocoa, and happy reading.
Winter Reading List
- Big Little Lies
by Liane Moriarty
I feel a little late to the party reading this, it’s been on my list for a while now! I’m more than half way through and it’s one of those fast reads that you can’t put down. I love the layers of this story and how it keeps me guessing. The realness of the characters and how their lives intertwine, yet are so different. Plus, now I have an extra excuse to watch the HBO series inspired by this book!
2.Bonfire: A Novel by Krysten Ritter
In November, I joined The Boss Babes Book Club to push myself to read and engage in conversation about the novel. My first read with the group was Bonfire, by Kristen Ritter who you might recognize from some of her on screen roles like Jessica Jones in the Marvel series.
This book was a fast read that kept me on my toes. The story has some eerie undertones, and towards the end gets very fast paced and filled with action, so pay attention. If you’re looking for an easy read with a little mystery, start here!
3.The Girl You Left Behind and Still Me
by Jojo Moyes
I have been itching to read the next part of Louisa Clark’s story after reading Me Before You
, and watching the popular film 2016 version.
.At the end of Me Before You, I felt unfinished. I wanted to know what next…I needed more of this story. I might have to marathon read these two novels…my heart is having all the feels already.
4. The Magnolia Story and Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff
I read The Magnolia Story last winter and could not put it down. I also could not be anymore in love with this couple. Their story was honest, encouraging, and downright inspiring. If you are looking for an encouraging, heartwarming, REAL story please pick this one up. Chip’s book Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff
has been on my docket and I can’t wait to see what little nuggets of wisdom he has to drop. *planning trip to Waco, TX now*
If you’ve read any of these, or have other recommendations I would love to hear! You can find all of the books I recommended in this reading list below. Happy reading babes!

I love Liane Moriarty books…I’ve read quite a few.
I can’t wait to read her others!
Thanks so much for the book list! I loved Big Little Lies (the book AND the show) and can’t wait for it to return. It’s the kind of book you read and think “I need to see this in a TV show or movie.” Jojo Moyes has been recommended to me a few times, so I’ll have to be sure to pick these up–and Magnolia <3 I just love those two and their design aesthetic.
Hope you're having a great week!
I’m almost done with Big Little Lies and have a feeling I will be equally as obsessed with the show. Magnolia story will make you love Chip and Jo even more!
Most of these books were recommended to me as well! I really hope I get to read some of them!
I really enjoyed reading The Magnolia story. I haven’t been as excited to read Capital Gaines, but it’s still on my list!
I feel the same about Capital Gaines, but I love them so I want to read it anyway!
I have been looking for new books to read, I am going to defiantly going to have to get some of these. Thank you for this amazing post.
I can’t wait to hear what you think!
I read Big Little Lies last year and loved it too! Bonfire has been on my list to read as well 🙂
